Encased in flaky puff pastry, these golden parcels emerge from the oven, radiating warmth. Thomas Farms Ground Beef

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 pound mushrooms, diced
  • 1 pound Thomas Farms Grass Fed Ground Beef
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 1/2 cup Gruyere cheese shredded + more for topping
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 egg beaten for an egg wash

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and ensure oven racks are in the middle and low levels of the oven.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté onions and mushrooms until slightly golden(about 5 minutes). Add the ground beef and brown while crumbling for another 5 minutes. 
  3. Deglaze with balsamic vinegar and add in the salt, pepper and thyme. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cheese and turn off the heat.
  5. Cut the puff pastry into 2-inch squares and place them on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet.
  6. Puncture each puff pastry square with a fork.
  7. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the beef mixture to the center of the puff pastry. Brush the outside with the egg wash.
  8. Sprinkle with a little more cheese and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
